As we all know, cryolipolysis technology originated in the United States. So, is this technology suitable for Asians? This issue of Literature Express focuses on the body contouring effect of cryolipolysis on Asians. Let’s explore in-depth together into cryolipolysis technology.
Quantitative Assessment of the Cryolipolysis Method for Body Contouring in Asian Patients
Few studies in the literature focus on the association of cryolipolysis with Asian patients, despite its demonstrated safety and effectiveness as a non-invasive treatment for reducing discrete areas of subcutaneous fat. This article focuses on the quantitative assessment of Asians after cryolipolysis treatment.
This retrospective study evaluated the effects of cryolipolysis treatment on 146 Asians in Japan between January 2019 and June 2019, with 54 and 27 patients undergoing cryolipolysis treatment in the abdominal and upper arm areas, respectively. We assessed clinical outcomes based on subject surveys, girth measurements, and photographic assessments.
An assessment of body contouring site selection shows that men generally focus more on the area around the abdomen, while women are more likely to choose the abdomen and upper arms. No long-term side effects were observed during the study, and the circumferences of the patients' abdomen and upper arms were significantly reduced (P<0.05). Among them, participants experienced an average reduction of 2.7 cm in abdominal circumference and 1.3 cm in upper arm circumference. In addition, 16.7% and 18.5% of patients evaluated who underwent cryolipolysis treatment of the abdomen and upper arms, respectively, underwent cryolipolysis treatment again within 6 months.
Based on the results of a retrospective study in Asian patients, we can conclude that cryolipolysis is a safe and well-tolerated method of non-surgical fat reduction. Proper post-contouring evaluation and satisfaction surveys can help sustain clinical results.
Cryolipolysis for Submental Fat Reduction in Asians
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive method of selective fat reduction for it is safe and effective, especially in body contouring. People need to reduce submental fat, which is not only related to good appearance but also to signs of aging.
This study evaluates the effectiveness and safety of cryolipolysis treatment for subcutaneous fat reduction in the submental region in Asians.
10 healthy Koreans received cryolipolysis treatment for body contouring. The clinician applied the freezing device twice to the patient's neck from both sides. The clinician measured the patients' weight, and based on this, took comparison photos during the 8-week follow-up period. Ultrasound examinations were conducted on participants to measure the depth of the subcutaneous fat layer.
Most patients experienced a subjective reduction in submental fat. Ultrasound confirmed a reduction in the depth of the subcutaneous fat layer after 8 weeks of treatment.
The results of this study indicate that cryolipolysis technology can safely and effectively reduce submental fat. Current research suggests that cryolipolysis can be an option for non-surgical facial contouring.
